The teams have been chosen for the forthcoming three-match One Day International series between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
Wesley Barresi, a
38-year-old veteran wicketkeeper-batter, will play for the Netherlands in the
pivotal Super League series, which begins on Tuesday in Rotterdam.
Barresi hasn't played
for his country in international cricket since June 2019, but he receives a
call-up since many of the top players are competing in The Hundred in England.
Arnav Jain, a young
all-arounder, gets chosen for the first time in a senior Netherlands squad
under Scott Edwards' leadership.
Netherlands squad: Scott Edwards (c), Musa Ahmad, Shariz Ahmad, Wesley
Barresi, Logan van Beek, Tom Cooper, Aryan Dutt, Arnav Jain, Viv Kingma, Ryan
Klein, Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Tim Pringle, Max O'Dowd, Vikram Singh
Shaheen Afridi, Haris
Rauf, and Naseem Shah are just a few of the fast-bowling options in a potent
Pakistan team that will be captained by Babar Azam.
As the towering
bowler recovers from the knee injury that forced him to miss the second Test
against Sri Lanka and with the Asia Cup approaching later this month, Babar has
suggested that Afridi may be used sparingly during the ODI series.
Babar recently stated
of Afridi, "We're looking long term at his fitness and health."
"If he's healthy
and prepared for the Asia Cup, we want him to play a game against the
Netherlands."
Pakistan squad: Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani, Zahid Mehmood.

Rotterdam, 11:00am local
