Pakistani cricketers lack of fitness issues, says health experts:

On August 28, 2022, during the India vs. Pakistan Asia Cup Twenty20 international cricket Group A game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, pacer Naseem Shah yells in agony while clutching his leg.

Both a lack of actual physical fitness and inadequate hydration prevented Pakistani cricketers from performing at their best throughout these matches in the intense heat.

According to Dr. Waqar Ahmad, the head of Pakistan's anti-doping organisation, cramps plagued Pakistani players the other day during their Asia Cup encounter versus India in Dubai due to a lack of physical conditioning and a precipitous drop in hydration levels (ADOP).

Dr. Waqar, a well-known figure in the rehabilitation area, told "The News" that he was startled to witness three key Pakistan players experiencing cramps while Indian players were at ease moving about during Sunday's Asia Cup match.

The fact that three Pakistanis—Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Rizwan—appeared to be fatigued and dehydrated caught me off guard as well. Indians, on the other hand, appeared more at ease and at ease.

Dr. Waqar responded that there were two possible causes for these cramps in a T20 game when asked what they might have been. "International sport is all about physical fitness, and the standard needed is very high. My extensive experience reveals that Pakistan's cricketers either lacked the necessary level of physical fitness or were not adequately hydrated for such matches in such high heat.

He suggested that extra precautions be taken to keep players hydrated in such severe conditions, and that their nutritional status the day before the game should be assessed. "I am certain that the degree of fitness necessary for such an occasion in such stifling heat was not present. Another option is that the player's level of hydration was inadequate. Take a look at the Indians, especially their fast bowlers. They never experienced any issues while bowling in the intense sun. The ground was similarly challenging and hard, but our cricketers couldn't handle it. Every Indian was having fun when the temperature was unusually high. In order for Pakistani players to survive the heat, support staff must increase player hydration levels and monitor nutritional status. The Asia Cup is a unique competition that is taking place in sweltering conditions. Despite Pakistan's think tank's best efforts, each cricketer needs to be cared for according to his or her physical needs. Special consideration is needed to help fast bowlers and wicket keepers handle the workload.

Dr. Waqar also indicated that there are a number of legal options to strengthen players' resistance to extreme heat. "In professional sports, extra work is needed to get players in shape and prepared for every situation. Players' fitness levels cannot be increased overnight because the process takes time.

A deep sleep is an important element that affects a player's level of hydration. "These cricket players need restorative sleep in between practises and games. It is necessary to relax your muscles, and the best neutral approach to do that is to have a good night's sleep. Regarding Pakistani players' sleeping patterns, I have some reservations. To get the necessary level of fitness and hydration for playing international cricket, they urgently need to enhance their sleep and rest schedules.
